How the Deal Score works
Updated
Every deal on Pizzaful gets a Deal Score from A+ to C. It answers one question: how much does each person pay, compared with other pizza deals near you right now?
1. Price per person
We add the deal price and any fees we know about (delivery, service), then divide by how many people it feeds. Our default servings are:
- Small pizza: 1 person
- Medium: 2 people
- Large: 3 people
- Extra large: 4 people
- A slice: 1 person
Some deals say exactly how many people they feed. When they do, we use that instead.
2. Compared with nearby deals
We take the median price per person of all active, verified deals in the same city. Then we compare:
| Your deal vs. the median | Grade |
|---|---|
| 70% or less | A+ |
| 85% or less | A |
| 100% or less | B+ |
| 115% or less | B |
| More than 115% | C |
If there are fewer than five comparable deals in a city, there isn’t enough to compare against, so the deal shows New instead of a grade.
What never changes a score
- Sponsorship. Featured listings and sponsored deals are labelled, and they never change a grade or the order deals are listed in.
- Expired deals. They stay on the site, marked Expired, but they don’t count towards the median.
- Unverified deals. A deal only counts once we’ve checked it. Every deal shows when it was last verified and links to its source.
The savings meter
When we know the restaurant’s regular menu price, the savings meter shows how much you save. When we don’t know it, we hide the meter rather than guess.
